The hardness of water is mainly composed of calcium and magnesium ions. When the raw water containing hardness ions passes through the resin layer in the water softener, the calcium and magnesium ions in the water are exchanged and adsorbed by the resin, while sodium ions are released by the same substances. The water flowing out of the water softener is softened water with hardness ions removed. When the resin has absorbed a certain amount of calcium and magnesium ions, it undergoes regeneration. The regeneration process involves using the salt in the salt tank to flush the resin layer, displacing the hardness ions on the resin and discharging them out of the tank with the regeneration waste liquid. Thus, the resin regains its ability to exchange soft water.

Flow control: It initiates the regeneration program based on the periodic water production volume. During the operation of the equipment, a dedicated flowmeter is used to calculate the total water production volume. When the total water production volume reaches the set periodic water production volume, the controller starts the regeneration program for automatic regeneration. The regeneration of the equipment is independent of the operating time and is generally suitable for occasions with unstable water consumption and continuous water use.
