Ozone can be obtained through high-voltage discharge (halo discharge), chemistry and other methods. According to the way ozone is generated, there are mainly three types of ozone generators at present: the first is high-voltage discharge type, the second is ultraviolet irradiation type, and the third is electrolytic type.

In high-voltage discharge ozone generators, there are the following types.

Due to its disadvantages such as large size and high power consumption, power frequency generators have basically withdrawn from the market at present. Medium and high-frequency generators have the advantages of small size, low power consumption and large ozone output, and are commonly used products nowadays.
2,According to the gas raw materials used, there are two types: oxygen type and air type.
3,According to the cooling method, there are water-cooled type and air-cooled type. When the ozone generator is working, it generates a large amount of heat energy and needs to be cooled; otherwise, the ozone will split while being produced due to high temperature. The water-cooled type generator has a good cooling effect, stable operation, no ozone attenuation, and can work continuously for a long time. However, its structure is complex and the cost is slightly higher. The air-cooled type has an less ideal cooling effect and obvious ozone attenuation. Large generators or those used in important places are usually water-cooled.
4,According to the dielectric materials, common types include quartz tubes, ceramic plates, glass tubes and enamel tubes, etc. Among them, quartz tubes are often used in some high-performance ozone generators due to their high dielectric constant, uniform wall thickness, good ellipticity, high temperature resistance, and moisture resistance. Ceramic plates are prone to cracking and are only suitable for some small generators. The wall thickness and ellipticity of ceramic tubes are difficult to control, which can easily lead to uneven discharge problems, so they are not widely used. Glass tubes and ceramic tubes have low dielectric constants, poor high-temperature resistance, and are prone to cracking. They are only used in some low-end generators.
5,According to the structure of the ozone-generating components, there are two types: closed type and open type. The structural feature of the closed generator is that the sealing body itself serves as an electrode, allowing ozone to be used centrally, such as in water treatment. The electrodes of an open generator are exposed to the air, and the ozone produced cannot be concentrated for use. It is usually only used for air purification in smaller Spaces or on the surfaces of certain small items.
