The water flowing out of the water softener is softened water with hardness ions removed.

  When the resin has adsorbed a certain amount of calcium and magnesium ions and reaches the saturated exchange capacity, regeneration is carried out. The regeneration process involves soaking and rinsing the resin layer with saturated brine from the salt tank to displace the calcium and magnesium ions in the resin and discharge them out of the tank along with the regenerant, thus restoring the resin's exchange capacity.
