Softened water equipment, as the name suggests, is a device that reduces water hardness. It mainly removes calcium and magnesium ions from water and scale. When the incoming water is deep well water or the water source has a very high hardness, the function of using softened water equipment is to reduce the content of calcium and magnesium ions in the water. During the process of softening water, water softening equipment cannot reduce the total salt content in water. It is widely used in hot water boiler systems, heat exchange systems, industrial cooling systems, air conditioning systems, and other water-using equipment systems.

Basic principle

The main working principle of water softening equipment is to utilize cations and anions for softening. Let the raw water pass through the anion and cation converters to remove ions such as calcium, magnesium and sodium from the water. The water that comes out is just water molecules. If there are no other molecules, it can effectively prevent scale.

When the influent is deep well water or the water source has a high hardness, the function of using a water softening device is to remove the calcium and magnesium ion content in the water, reducing the calcium and magnesium ions in the water. If there is no water softener or it fails, calcium and magnesium salts will form insoluble precipitates on the surface of the reverse osmosis membrane due to a sharp increase in concentration, blocking the pores of the reverse osmosis membrane, shortening its service life and increasing the maintenance cost of the equipment.
